Rugs
My rugs are woven by hand from start to finish. Unlike some rug weavers that advertise "hand loomed" (which means that after the "warp" is threaded onto the loom a machine takes over and weaves the rug) my rugs are not machine woven.
I weave using a very large Harrisville Rug Loom, which allows me to weave rugs without a center seam of up to 53" wide and as long as you'd like. I am happy to take special orders and work with you on color and design.
My rugs are woven from a variety of fibers and materials. The wool rugs are generally woven in a weave called 3-end Block Weave, using a technique called shaft-switching pioneered by Peter Collingwood. This weave gives me extraordinary freedom of design. I also weave rag rugs, using recycled denim jeans, chenille bedspreads, cotton sock loopers or just about any kind of fabric you can think of. Each rug has its own feel, look and care instructions.
